Happy New Year And Thank You

I would like to take a moment to thank you kind readers for visiting my blog and liking the ramblings of a self published writer. My corner of the internet is a better place because of your visits. It really does warm my heart when you read my posts and leave comments.

Trying to sell books on line twenty even ten years ago would have been difficult. Now, within moments, an e-book can get anywhere in the world where there is internet access. That is simply neat.

Think of all the trees saved by not using oodles and oodles of paper. Think of the all the gas saved my not having to transport the book from a publisher to a distributor then to a bookstore and finally to your home. Think of all the space you can save in your home by not having bookshelves. All of it fits on a computer, tablet, or smart phone.

What I love about technology is that in five years or less, we will snicker at today’s cutting edge items we use because they will be long outdated. There is always something new an improved ready to step up when it comes to technology.

Happy 2016. The above is some animated fireworks I found that looked pretty neat. Speaking of neat, because you read blogs, then you know how I close them. The e-books are to the right. Yalu And The Puppy Room and Yalu And The Stinky Stink are both worth the $2.99 price tags they go for at Go buy them and enjoy them with someone special. Be brave, be bold and enjoy the new year.

Some Reasons Why Golden Retrievers Are Smart Dogs

Looking for a smart dog? Well look no further than a Golden Retriever. They are as intelligent as they are cute. Need a why? Well here it comes.

Like all dogs, a Golden Retriever can be taught just about anything a dog can learn. What makes them different is that they figure out the best way how to do something. In other words, Golden Retrievers are problem solvers.

When a Golden Retriever is in the field, they are better at quartering than most dogs. What is quartering? That is when a dog search for something. Put a Golden Retriever and another dog in search of something, the Golden Retriever will not look where the other dog has been. Doing that allows them to cover more ground while other dogs might look in the same place more than once.

If you need further evidence of a Golden Retriever being smarter than other dogs, then look no further than Yalu. She found a way to stand out from the other dogs in her kennel and get noticed. You can find how she did that in her first adventure, Yalu And The Puppy Room.

The banner for the book is to the right. You can also sample minutes of the book with a short video. Why? Because you are special. So be brave, be bold and become a proud owner of a wonderful e-book for just $2.99.

The Top Seven Must Have WordPress Plugins That All The Cook Kids Use

For those of you who blog, and you know who are, the above video contains some nifty plugins for your site. All of them are easy to install which is good. All the cool kids use them so you should too. Was that enough peer pressure? In all honestly, they are good plugins worth reviewing.

Note: plugins do not work with, only I write that because it took me much too long to figure out there were two types of WordPress–there was no cool kid around to tell me.

Once you review these seven free plugins, you should have not one, but two armchair adventures. What kind of adventures should you experience? … Wait a minute. It is coming to me. What kind of adventures should you have?

How about one where a dog named Yalu rescues her pet zebra? There is an adventure one does not have every day. For the second adventure, how about an origin story that deals with a puppy overcoming rejection?

That sounds like more excitement that you, kind reader, could shake a tail at. Fear not, both adventures have happy endings. Just to let you in on two little secrets, the book covers on the right are really banners that when clicked, will lead you to That is where you can download Yalu And The Puppy Room and Yalu And The Stinky Stink for $2.99 each as e-books.

Are you ready to be amazed? Then be brave, be bold and click those banners.

How Real Are Your Friends On Facebook?

All I want to do is grow my friend base on Facebook. Meet people from across the world. Let them know I am a self published author and that I have two children’s books for sale they can instantly purchase as e-books.

Facebook is a great way to meet people. There are lots of them ready and willing to be your friend. You would think the people you friend are real.  That is the problem with being a trusting soul. The above video helps you weed through the fake Facebook people interested in spamming you or doing whatever else fake Facebook people do.

Internet scammers tend to use images of pretty girls or guys. Why? Because guys are are visually stimulated and become blithering idiots with the first pretty face that interacts with them.

You ladies are too smart to fall for a pretty face. Women are socially oriented and have seen and heard it all.

Guys still fall for a pretty girl. That is how too many guys are wired and the scammers know it.

I did not want to not believe the above YouTube video so I tested it by downloading suspected people on my Facebook friend list. The good news is that many people listed as my friends passed.

Then, there was Tania. There always has to be a Tania.

Who is Tania? That is something I would like to know. Tania Azucar was born November 8, 1985. There is nothing else in her Facebook About profile about her–that was clue number one. Next clue, Tania is a classically pretty girl with a pretty face–in the spy industry, she is known as a honey pot.

I right clicked on her profile image and downloaded it. Tin Eye gave me 236 results of where I can find Tania on the internet after searching 13.694 billion, yes, billion images. To paraphrase the music of The Monkees “Then I ran her face, now I’m a believer.”  Tania got unfriended.

Why am I posting this information on a blog designed to promote my books and is geared toward kids? There are creepy people out there on the internet. Some are just strange by nature. Others must be avoided like skunks.

For those of you who are real and friends on Facebook friends, thanks for being you. Real people are nice. They can do things like click the banners on the right and become proud owners of Yalu And The Puppy Room and Yalu And The Stinky Stink. They can read these two fabulous children’s books to someone special or have someone special read the stories to them. Be brave, be bold and enjoy Yalu two adventures for $2.99 each at

Yalu And The Puppy Room And How To Get To Carnegie Hall

How many drafts did it take to write Yalu And The Puppy Room and what does that have to do with Carnegie Hall? For these answers and much more, read on.

When I speak at elementary schools, I ask students, “How many of you think I sat down one day and wrote Yalu And The Puppy Room in one sitting?”

All the hands go up.

“How many of you think it took me two drafts to write my book?”

The hands stay up.

“Five drafts?”

Some hands go down.

“Ten drafts?”

More hands go down.

“Twenty drafts?”

There very few hands raised at this point.

How many drafts did it take to write Yalu And The Puppy Room? The answer is thirty-seven–I have made some revisions since putting it into an e-book format.

Thirty-seven! When I admit to so many drafts, I become the instant hero of every elementary school teacher.

I start out with an idea and write it to the best of my ability. I read it aloud, I have a computer program called Dragon Naturally Speaking that speaks with an electronic voice writing on any Word document–you need the full version to get the read back feature. I keep writing until I think I have the best story possible.

After that, I presented what I think is the final product to my writing group. They give me ideas. They marked up the copies I printed out for them. Their responses helped improve the story.

One member suggested that a round fluffy cloud should come down from the sky just for Yalu when I mentioned her new bed. That worked.

Another idea was this one. “Alright, when he says “Yalu” I am supposed to do something. I can figure that out later.” That is precisely how a child would think.

That brings me to the Carnegie Hall tie in. There is a joke about a tourist asking a local how to get to Carnegie Hall. The answer: practice practice, practice. The same sort of answer applies with writing. In my case, it is: revision, revision, revision.

Could I have done a better job of writing Yalu And The Puppy Room? Perhaps. The problem is this. At that some point, it is time to set loose the final work. Right now, I have written the best possible story I know how to write. If there is a “too” when there should have been a “to” or “two”, I will revise.

I will let you, kind reader, be the judge of my work. Click the banner and get your very own copy of Yalu And The Puppy Room for $2.99 at If you find the story heartwarming, and I know you will, Yalu has another adventure where she meets a skunk and saves her pet zebra. That’s right, a Golden Retriever has a pet pet zebra.

Be brave, be bold, and enjoy two great stories about a little brown dog named Yalu.

What To Do With Bored Kids

So there you are. The “adult” placed in charged with watching the kids while your spouse or significant other goes after those all important after Christmas sales.

You, kind reader, have made what seemed like the smart move by staying home and avoiding those crowded stores. Did that decision come with watching the kids?

There might be a whole bunch of kids under your charge because women prefer shopping in groups so they seek out those sales as a team.

Meanwhile, you get to entertain children. And they are getting bored. The Christmas toys have lost their charm. They seen all the movies. There is nothing on TV. What will you do? What will you do?

Here’s an idea, read them a story. What kind of story should you read to them? The story should have a strong character. Stories with strong character are always good.

That main strong character should have a problem. What is the purpose of having a story if the main character does not have a problem or two to overcome?

The character should develop from the story’s resolution. Oh, and there should be a happy ending.  A story with a happy ending always works.

Would it help if the main character was cute, furry and brown? Of course it would. Stories with a cute, brown, and fuzzy strong character who overcomes adversities have got to be good. The problem is where do you find them?

There is a Golden Retriever you should meet. Her name is Yalu and she has adventures that can be downloaded to your computer, tablet or smart phone in mere moments.

Yalu And The Puppy Room and Yalu And The Stinky Stink can be downloaded from for just $2,99 each. That avoids having to pack the kids into the car, drive to a book store, finding a book or two, standing in line, pack the kids back into the car and heading home and doing this without there being issues kids seem to have.

Join Yalu in her adventures. Read these stories to someone special–better yet, have someone tell you their story as they view finely illustrated pictures presented in these e-books. Click those book covers to the right and you are well on your well to being the great entertainer of bored children. Be brave, be bold and see the world from the point of view of a Golden Retriever–it will be “woof” it.

Golden Retrievers Are Great Dancers

If you ever need to dance with a dog, make it a Golden Retriever. They are talented dancers as seen in this video.

Take a moment to ask yourself, can a poodle or pit bull do what Rookie the Golden Retriever does in today’s video? Perhaps if you look through the mountain of YouTube videos. Would those videos be as cute and fun as dancing with a Golden Retriever? Well, from the point of view of a Golden Retriever kind of guy like me, probably not. However, I consider myself a little bias in the dog department.

So, how do I, a writer of children chapter books about a Golden Retriever get you to see the world from my point of view. That is simple. I will invite you into the wonderful world of Yalu and her adventures.

The fastest way of doing that is by having you click on the short video on the sidebar so you can see how Yalu would approach a job interview. Yes, she does a job interview. As an added bonus, you can even hear the author reading the story. After enjoying the first few minutes of Yalu And The Puppy Room, you can find out how she found a forever home.

Doing that involves a little commitment on your part. Yes, that means purchasing Yalu And The Puppy Room by clicking the banner link of her book cover. It is right under her video. The answers to those questions and many more can be found in her second adventure, Yalu And The Stinky Stink. Find out what happens when Yalu has a close encounter with a skunk. She also rescues her pet zebra, Molly.

A skunk and a pet zebra named Molly in one story?  How does any of that make sense? You will just have to purchase Yalu And The Stinky Stink to find out. Trust me, it is “woof” it and for $2.99 at, Yalu’s second adventure can also be downloaded to your computer, tablet, or smart phone.

Disco Dog

Can your dog dance as well as Yalu? Probably so if you go to–they know how to help shy dogs like Yalu come out their shell and hit the dance floor.

How can a Golden Retriever be transformed into a disco dog? It was part of her recovery from not only being rejected, but skunked. Rejection and a close encounter with a skunk really changes someone.

If the above makes no sense, then you, kind reader, will have to become the proud owner of Yalu And The Puppy Room and Yalu And The Skinky Stink. They are the first two installments of Yalu’s adventures.

These finely written and illustrated e-books can found on for $2,99 each. Download Yalu’s first adventures to your computer, tablet or smart phone. Find out how to overcame two import life lessons, overcoming rejection and dealing with a skunk. Be brave, be bold and click those banners on the right.
